EVOKE trailer (a new online game) from Alchemy on Vimeo.

THE EVOKE GAME LAUNCHES MARCH 3, 2010.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOW AT URGENTEVOKE.COM

EVOKE is an online game designed to teach collaboration, creativity, knowledge networking, entrepreneurship, courage, resourcefulness, sustainability, and vision.

Our goal: to empower young people all over the world, and especially in Africa, to start tackling the world’s toughest problems: poverty, hunger, sustainable energy, water security, conflict, disaster relief, health care, education, human rights.

EVOKE is free to play, and open to anyone, anywhere in the world. It launches on March 3, 2010 and concludes on May 12, 2010. EVOKE was developed by the World Bank Institute, and directed by alternate reality game master Jane McGonigal. For press/media inquiries, please contact evokenet@gmail.com

How to help us EVOKE

If you have 1 minute: Tweet, blog, or Facebook the game URL to friends and colleagues. The URL is www.urgentevoke.com

If you have 5 minutes: Embed the game trailer on your blog, website or Facebook wall. You can grab the embed link at www.vimeo.com/9094186

If you have 20 minutes: Volunteer as an online EVOKE mentor. Send a one-sentence description of your skills & expertise to urgentevoke@gmail.com. Sometime during the game (March 3 – May 12, 2010), you’ll receive a message partnering you with a player. Your mentor mission is simple: visit the player’s wall, share some words of wisdom with them, and cheer on their efforts.

This looks to be very interesting. I'm wondering if it's the "social game blockbuster" that people have been wishing for on the "socialissuegames" list recently.

Quick question -- what are the computer requirements?

I'm emailing to be a volunteer as I type! It sounds like it'll be similar to Superstruct. Working together to solve world problems. It'll be interesting to see how this grew from that project and what you've pulled into it. If you need help on any deeper levels than the volunteer job feel free to let me know. Looking forward to seeing what this turns into!

I was looking for more info on this game and went to the evoke website. Seems you can't get more info without signing up -- so I signed up but I don't know what the heck is going on with this game and whether I'll be in over my head...
Regardless, it sounds super cool. This is my first time gaming.

Hi Miss Mookus -- you can get more info by clicking on the ABOUT link -- it will take you to the Evoke blog! You can also go there directly: blog.urgentevoke.net

You won't be over your head! We have lots of mentors to help first time alternate reality players.

Right now, you can sign up to reserve your spot in the game. It starts March 3!

Interesting - just finished reading freedom by Danial Suarez and now come across Evoke. Could this be a forerunner to the fictional Matthew Sobol's mmo that leads to a darknet, real world change and society changing disruption ?

I'll have to play to find out.

Really great trailer. I love the comic-book look. The voice acting seems better than in most AAA titles.
I'm a "hardcore" gamer, and the status quo alone keeps me away from social games (not to mention I really am not into the social games "genre"), but this trailer is awesome. I can't miss this.

I’m so glad to have found your web page. My pal mentioned it to me before, yet never got around to checking it out until now. I must express, I’m floored. I really enjoyed reading through your posts and will absolutely be back to get more.

Looks like the game just finished about two weeks ago, are there any updates as to how successful the game was and are there any similar gaming initiatives planned for the future?

A very interesting read :)

EVOKE sounds like a very promising program. I'd love to hear an update on this. Are you working with any of the bigger gaming companies to promote this?
